Call for proposals for Global Greengrants Fund

19.05.2009. Novac Komentiraj Print

Who can apply?

GGF funding aims to support Friends of the Earth International's grassroots agenda by transfering resources to the communities with which FoEI groups work.

GGF is only open to non-FoEI groups and all members are requested to approach national/local groups and communities with which they work in order to recommend the submission of proposals.

For what?

The aim of GGF funding is to support a wide range of community-based  initiatives that promote environmental justice in the most under-served and threatened regions on Earth. GGF gives grants of up to US $5000 to grassroots groups with well-organized local campaigns that could benefit from a small grant. This money can be spent in the Global South and Central and Eastern Europe.

How much can you apply for?

The budgets of the proposals should not be higher than $5,000 per project. For the current funding round, FoEI must recommend a total of $75,000 (allocating $18,750.00 per region). Smaller amounts (such as travel grants for participation in a meeting) are also welcomed.

Procedures.

FoE members are invited to approach national/local groups and communities with which they work in order to recommend the submission of proposals. FoE member groups are requested to use the attached GGF application form. Please note that this is a different form from the usual FoEI MSF form. Proposals are submitted to the International Secretariat through Erick Burke for the initial review for qualifications. Qualified proposals are then forwarded to the particular regional structure (ATALC, APac, Africa, Europe) under which the proposal falls. The regions select which
proposals to recommend and then forward the allocation of their respective $18,750.00 to Erick Burke for consolidation. These recommendations will be forwarded in turn to the ExCom for their final consideration and approval. Finally, the ExCom will announce the decisions taken and will notify GGF.

Post approval.

Once approved, GGF will require additional financial information from the grantees. GGF will contact the groups directly in order to complete a minimal amount of forms for final processing.

For clarifications on the GGF funding round, contact the International Membership Development Coordinator (IMDC), Erick Burke erick@foei.org
